I thought we had ample time to take photos with the general tour, so I’m glad we didn’t spring for the $50 photography tour. The tour groups get intermingled and the other guides didn’t seem more animated than ours. Truthfully though, I don’t think it matters what tour group you go with. Our guide was friendly and happy to answer our questions during the tour but I wouldn’t say he went out of his way to make it an interactive experience.

For the best cell phone photos, set your iPhone to the “Chrome” filter setting.

On windy days bring a plastic bag to protect your camera.

No tripods are allowed on your tour unless you get the special (more expensive) photography tour.

It only takes a few inches of rain to completely flood Antelope Canyon. If rain is predicted your tour may be canceled.

In addition to your ticket, you’ll have to pay the cash only $8 for the reservation fee.

Reservations aren’t essential but recommended, especially during peak season in the summer.

The only way to visit the canyon is with a guided tour.

Antelope Canyon is located on the Navajo Indian Reservation.

You can drive your car right up to Lower Antelope Canyon but with Upper you need to be driven there. Apparently Lower Antelope Canyon is less crowded as well. It’s absolutely gorgeous and the tickets are $25 vs up to $200 for Upper Antelope Canyon. Until we started looking into tours, I didn’t even know there was an upper versus lower Antelope Canyon! I would recommend Lower Antelope Canyon all the way.
